Powder metallurgy is an ideal technology for manufacturing gears because it creates the geometry of the teeth directly in the compacting operation.
It also allows the manufacture of gears of different sizes, profiles and shapes (straight, double or helical), of steels with different alloying grades, finished with heat treatments (case hardening, carbonitriding, induction hardening, steam treatment) or with a stainless steel base.
In the choice of materials, sinterhardened steels are particularly important because they already have high hardness when they leave the sintering furnace, without the need for subsequent heat treatment.
